Byron Center’s Blue Ribbon School

But, what is a Blue Ribbon School?

Well, according to the U.S Department of Education, “U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recognized 335 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2015 based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. These schools demonstrate that all students can achieve to high levels.”

Brown Elementary School of Byron Center is one of the 13 Michigan schools honored with this award. What an amazing honor for our community to have such a stand out school! We are so proud to have such a thriving educational system at the center our community.

While the other schools in Byron Center did not receive this award, we would like to take the opportunity to note their individual strengths, as well. Teachers and principals work hard throughout the community to provide our children with the upmost attention and care, and we are proud of each one of them. Each facility is well maintained, unique to their students needs and helping to form strong community ties.
