2015 Wrap Up: Our 5 Favorite Interior Trends from 2015

We can’t move on to the New Year without taking the opportunity to look back on some of our favorite trends from 2015. Are you curious about what some our favorite interior design trends of the year were? Take a look below to see the bold and modern effect that 2015 had on home interior design.

#1: The Return of Marble

We saw a huge return of marble this year! Whether it was in the kitchen or the bathroom, classic marble was 2015’s comeback kid of the year.

For instance, take a look at this kitchen’s marble countertop…

#2: Open Kitchen Shelves Couldn’t Be Ignored

In 2015, we saw a decline in classic kitchen cupboards. Instead, hanging shelves seemed to be replacing more traditional looks, offering kitchens a more open, airy look.

Shelves like this seemed to be popular replacements…

And, we want your opinion… would you be willing to get rid of your cupboard doors and put your items on display like this home?

#3: Farmhouse Lighting Took Over!

We can probably thank Chip and Joanna Gaines of HGTV’s Fixer Upper for this trend! Farmhouse lighting was everywhere this year! Rustic lighting, in 2015, seemed to be a simple solution for making any room look more casual and cozy.

Check it out. Simple accents like this rustic fixture made a huge appearance this year!

#4: Subway Tile, Subway Tile, Subway Tile

Subway tile has been on par with kitchen and bathroom trends for a few years now, and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere either. Stacked traditionally or in herringbone, subway tiles achieve a classic look that doesn’t overwhelm the eye.

Subway like this seemed to be at lots of our home showings this year!

#5: Palm Springs Paint Colors

Bold colors, like turquoise, were a direct result of the Palm Springs trend, and began appearing everywhere this year! From bedrooms to entry ways, and front doors to shutters, these colors made powerful interior design statements all year round.

Would you just look at this Palm Springs inspired dining room? Pretty bold and beautiful, huh?
