Looking at Potential Homes: First Time Home Buyers Series Video 8

As you set out to look at different homes of interest, make sure that you are truly ready! This video includes all of our best tips and tricks for maintaining a positive home buying experience. And, below are some of the things we tell clients over and over again. We hope that they help you, too!

10 helpful hints for home viewing experience:

1– Block off a large chunk of time. It’s easier and more productive to look at multiple house in one period of time.

2– Try to just go out with your partner. We have kids and we love them, but sometimes looking at houses can be difficult for children. It might be a good idea to come out the first few times with just mommy and daddy and bring the kiddos out for a second viewing later.

3– Bring water and a snack. Sometimes looking at house can take a long time! It’s always a good idea to keep water and a snack in the car to snack on during homes.

4– Take notes, videos, and photos. All of these things will help you remember the homes easier. It will also allow you record what you like as you go along.

5– Be honest– Do not be afraid to communicate clearly about what you do and do not like about the homes you see. The more you tell us, the better we can help you.

6– Remind yourself of your priorities. Keep reminding yourself what you actually want.

7– Be realistic. As you’re out, be sure that you don’t let you eyes get too big. Be realistic about what you want and keep in mind what you can actually afford.

8– Don’t be misled by the glamour of a house. Just becuase a house has all the fancy amenities doesn’t mean that it’s a “good” house. Be sure that you pay attention to all of the elements of the house, not just the fancy appliances.

9– Be ready to look at 5 to 10 houses. Expect to look at multiple houses in one trip. The more homes you look at without getting overwhelmed, the better you are able to compare what you do and don’t like.

10– Expect multiple trips out. Don’t ever worry about wasting our time. We are happy to show you as many house as you need!!
