In the living room, symmetrical arrangements usually work well. Pull your furniture off the walls and use pairs (of couches, chairs, or lamps) to create an inviting conversation area.

If you’ve never used surface sliders, you’ll thank me after you pick up your first set and use them. They are available at all home improvement stores and come in sets of hard surface sliders and carpet sliders. They will protect your floor and glide across the floor to make moving your furniture easy.
